Books
Good Night Farm, my debut picture book, is a must have. The gorgeous illustrations alone will make you hungry. Featuring over 20 different fruits, vegetables, and more in this book, not only can you talk about what a bramble is, but you can also go pick some raspberries or blackberries from a local farm.
Creating curiosity in your children about all aspects of food and eating can be simple and fun!
With my book, Good Night Farm, each page can begin a conversation.
– Here’s how:
“Good night to the asparagus picked first in spring.”
The A to Z:
You can talk about color, flavor, shape, where it grows, what time of year it grows, how to harvest it, where to store it at home, ways to eat it and cook it, and more!
Interesting Facts:
Did you know that about 300 varieties of asparagus have been identified and only 20 are edible? What’s the difference between the edible types and inedible types?
Shop, Pick, and Taste:
Could you find a white (yes, white!) and a green variety at your local grocery store or farmer’s market in spring time to try? Did you find fresh, frozen, or in a can?
To keep the conversations going, I’d love to share some tips, resources,
and activities.
- I’ll send periodic activities or questions for the family to ponder over popcorn or popsicles.
- I’ll let you know when the companion book, Good Morning Farm is published and ready to come to your home.
- You’ll be the first to hear about special offerings, where to get a signed copy, when I’ll be reading in person, how to book a reading of your own, and more exciting adventures in the works.
- Today, you can download free coloring pages to keep the littles busy while you make dinner, by clicking here.

You’ll want to take a field trip
to a small farm after reading this!
This is such a beautifully written and
illustrated children’s book!
I love the variety of fruits and vegetables
included in the story, especially for kids
who are only used to seeing apples
and bananas, peas and carrots.
It’s awesome to have a story about
the kind of farm that a child would be able
to visit and pick their own food.
This would be a great book to read
before going to a “you pick” farm!
Jill Roark
‘There’s something about this book
that I like,’
said my daughter, as we pored over the
mouth-watering illustrations of cherries,
tomatoes and fresh herbs.
Then we hatched a plan to visit our
local farm shop the next morning,
to buy apples and plums for a pie.
Good Night Farm gently encourages
dialogue about healthy eating
and local farming.
It’s a perfect book to read on the eve
of a visit to a local farm,
or after a delicious dinner
of fresh farm produce
— to start exploring where fresh produce
comes from, and how exciting and
varied it can be.
The author’s passion for
the small farm sector sparkles throughout.
