Have you ever held a freshly picked apple up to your nose to inhale
that swell smell before taking that first tasty bite?

That smell. That crunch. That juicy sweet taste. That’s the good stuff right there.

I’ve been an eater all my life. Mostly, a picky eater.
Do you know what I enjoy eating the most and what my body is most agreeable to digesting? Fresh fruits and vegetables.

One of our favorite family activities in the summer is visiting the local farmer’s markets in our area. With food trucks, musicians, and items from flowers to yams and pickles to jams, if you can cook with it or eat it, you can buy it at your local farmer’s market.

While the outdoorsy men and women who grow food are outside there getting dirty, dealing with weeds, trying to control insects, beneficial or otherwise, I am inside marketing their farms. Like bees pollinating in the spring, I put their information everywhere online, so they can focus on doing the job they do best – growing the tastiest produce they can. That’s the job that counts the most.

I’ve been supporting small farms that sell their produce directly to consumers through farmer’s markets or onsite u-pick operations since 2012. I’d prefer the farmers be focused on farming so they have a great harvest for my family and my community to enjoy than spending their days scrolling on their phone and learning about ads. Wouldn’t you?
